Use case
Host a Discord bot that does not go offline
A Discord bot keeps a connection open to Discord all day. It needs a process that is allowed to run for weeks, with somewhere to keep its data.
The problem
Serverless platforms cannot hold a gateway connection open, and shared free hosts stop idle processes.
What NeverHalt gives you
- Restarts itself
If the process crashes it is started again automatically. Restarts that loop too fast are held back and the log says why.
- A disk that survives restarts
Every agent gets its own /app/data folder. SQLite files, checkpoints and caches are still there after a crash, a redeploy or a restart.
- You see what it does
Live logs, plus an activity log of AI calls, tool calls and errors with token counts and cost.
- Secrets stay secret
API keys are encrypted at rest and injected into the process. Your real AI key can stay with NeverHalt and never enter the agent.
Run mode
execution_mode: daemon main_file: bot.py # or index.js for discord.js
Questions
- Python or Node?
- Both. Python 3.11 and Node 20 are included, with the packages from your requirements.txt or package.json installed at deploy.
- What if the bot freezes without crashing?
- If the agent uses the heartbeat helper and goes silent, NeverHalt treats that as a stall and restarts it. Without a heartbeat only crashes are detected.
No card needed. Confirm your email, deploy from GitHub or a zip.
